Garmin Sync with Google Health Connect (June 2025)

At the Google I/O conference this year Google announced that Garmin will support Google Health Connect for syncing data.

It's around the :56 min mark:  Android Stage - Day 1 (Google I/O 2025)

I spent the last year trying out the Pixel Watch 3/Health Connect/etc ecosystem. I'm happy about the standardization and interoperability of APIs, I think is is good for consumers.

  • A "Health Connect" release came out today (June 9, 2025) There is no release note information about supporting Garmin data.

On the Garmin Connect app, under "settings" "connected apps" it lists three

    • Outlook
    • MyFitnessPal
    • Strava

I'm curious if this Health Connect release supports Garmin.  As Google announced they would support Garmin Data syncs in June, but now the ball is in Garmin Connects court, to update their app to read/write to Health Cinnect.

    We'll see

  • Today (June 12, 2025) a Google person wrote:

"Google announced at I/O 2025 that Garmin Connect will integrate with Health Connect starting in June 2025, allowing direct syncing of health and fitness data without third-party apps like Health Sync. It hasn’t been delayed or kicked down the road, but it’s not yet available as Android 16’s rollout doesn’t automatically include this feature. It’s tied to a Garmin app update expected this month."

  • BTW.  From what I understand iPhone users see a different list of "connected apps" than us Android users.

On IOS one of their options for connected apps is the Apple Health analog to "Health Connect." So after this option becomes available on Garmin Connect, us android users should have the same flexibility and standardized APIs to use our data that is generated by our Garmins.  Here's hoping.

On the Garmin Connect app, under "settings" "connected apps" it lists three

    • Outlook
    • MyFitnessPal
    • Stava
  • Here is the comparison for difference in data sharing Garmin has between iPhone and Android.

    Us Android users have this:

On the Garmin Connect app, under "settings" "connected apps" it lists three

    • Outlook
    • MyFitnessPal
    • Stava

    iPhone users have this:

  • When in June will Google Health Connect integration be released, I can't see it yet? This is something that should have been done a long time ago, every other health & fitness platform already has this integration.

  • I assume it will be with a Google Play Store "Garmin Connect App" update.  The last app update was around June 16th...I'm waiting to see if it is rolled out in their next app update.

  • Great into: Someone here, I can't find who pointed this out, that Garmin has put up a support page.

"Sharing Your Garmin Connect Data With Google Health Connect"

    https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=JToBEy0jfe6pIygark2Ui5

As of today (June 28, 2025) it doesn't actually exist yet, which is all that matters, but it's the first acknowledgment I've seen from Garmin, after Google announced it was going to happen.

  • Thanks, I still cannot see any options to setup, either in Garmin's app or directly in Health Connect. For saying it was announced at Google, communication about this from Garmin has been poor.

  • To be fair. Google announced that Garmin was going to do something. I've not heard anything directly from Garmin except yesterday's new support page "Sharing Your Garmin Connect Data With Google Health Connect"

It seems like it is happening, but 'when' is TBD.
