I would like sleep mode permanently off please - is that possible on my FR265?

I have a FR265 and I am very pleased with everything it delivers during my waking hours in relation to sport and activity tracking etc, which is the principal reason I bought it. I would however also like it to be a functional watch replacement and am not in the least bit interested in the fictional sleep statistics it keeps. It seems that, in order to promote this nonsense to a more gullible section of the public, Garmin have written some software which in my view is not fit for purpose because it can't be relied upon not to interfere with basic user functional requirements such as telling the time. When I am in bed I'm not looking for an exercise device, just a watch. The minimum requirement therefore, if I wake in the middle of the night and want to check what time it is (pretty much the only thing anyone will want to do in this scenario), is to be able to read the display. I do not want to have to hunt for my reading glasses in the dark and I dare not turn the light on for fear of waking my partner. Basic user friendliness is all I am asking for.

And by the way, I can tell if I've had a good night's sleep or if I've had a bad night's sleep from how I feel during the ensuing hours. The sleep stats on the device add nothing of value.

So Garmin and Garmin user community, I would like sleep mode permanently off please - is that possible on my FR265?

  • I’ve had a bad night, I’m tired now when I should be wide awake. I misread my Garmin display and thought it said 6:15 when in fact it said 5:15. I got up an hour earlier than I should have with the result that I’m now flagging. I had previously set the device to default to the daytime watch face all throughout the 24 hour period but it has reset this setting. Why does this happen? Can it be prevented?
