FR 265 use with smart trainer

Has anyone successfully used the FR265 to control a smart trainer in ERG mode? I'm interested in any issues encountered and the solutions if known)

I do not currently use a smart trainer but I am considering a future purchase. I have several structured workouts that I use and would like to continue to use these.

  • Why not use the trainer with a platform like zwift or any other and connect that to strava for more data!

  • Because I'm cheap and don't want to pay for a subscription.

  • I use my F265s with a concept 2 rowing trainer.  The connection is pretty easy.  I push the PM5 (only PM5 works), and scan for it in the accessories/sensors and pair them.  Then i use indoor rowing and everything connects and syncs to garmin connect.  Hope that is useful

  • I recommend mywoosh it’s free! Unfortunately it doesn’t write to Garmin. So you’ll need to start an indoor ride on your watch and smart trainer to get training data to Garmin. Or upload FIT files to Garmin from my woosh. But you won’t get training load and other metrics. Just select one of the workouts off Strava and you’re good to go!

  • if mywhoosh can produce data to strava then probably the data can be integrated to garmin if strava and garmin are connected?

  • Your correct but manually uploading fit files suck. Much easier to press a few buttons on your watch. Also training load doesn’t convert over, so if you want that elusive productive status you may better off starting a seperate activity on your watch.

  • You can go to the MyWhoosh website and download the .fit file.  Then import it into connect.  I do that once a week.  The dates are in the file so the timeline is correct.
