how to delete interval on a workout

How do I delete an accidental additional lap from a run activity?

  • You can't do this within Connect, although Connect does allow you to recategorize the interval type of each lap.

For example, say your laps look like this in Connect:

    1 Run
    2 Run (actually rest)
    3 Run
    4 Run (accidental lap)
    5 Run (actually rest)
    6 Run
    7 Run (actually rest)

You could recategorize them to reflect what actually happened:

    1 Run
    2 Rest
    3 Run
    4 Run
    5 Rest
    6 Run
    7 Rest

Since laps 3 and 4 are adjacent and have the same interval type ("run"), they'll be grouped together in the Laps/Intervals table and you can see aggregate stats for that group. So your laps would still be messed up, but at least you'd have a way to view the stats you want.

Ofc this assumes that the rest of your laps (following the accidental lap) are ok.

If you really want to delete the lap from the activity, you could try a 3rd party tool:

    - FIT File Repair Tool should allow you to delete a lap or even insert a new lap if necessary. It's not free and it requires Windows. It also uses Access, so it's not the most modern or smoothest UX but it's a very powerful tool. You can try it out for free to at least see if what you want is possible (it won't allow you to save a complete FIT file though.)

    - FitEdit is free (for most features) and it allows you to merge laps (which I guess is effectively the same as deleting laps). It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux. It's a lot more modern and quick, although parts of the UI are...interesting...and I don't think it's anywhere near as feature-rich as FIT File Repair Tool

To use either of the tools, you'd have to first export the activity to FIT by opening the Connect website, navigating to the activity, clicking on the gear icon and selecting Export File. Then you'd edit the file with the tool of your choice, delete the original in Connect, and manually import the edited file.
