Interval countdown data field?

Hey y'all, I think this question has been asked many times but I don't see an obvious answer. I'm doing a lot of interval runs these days (from a training plan, so I'm not building them myself) and I would LOVE to have a data field that shows the TIME REMAINING IN THE INTERVAL. That...has to exist, right??? Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!

In the "Timer Fields" options, I have timer (counts up, total time elapsed, not useful), lap time, which also counts up, elapsed time (not helpful), multisport (same), overall ahead/behind, and est. finish time. It's bonkers that there's not a lap time COUNTDOWN option. Help very appreciated!

  • Yeah it sucks that there isn't a built-in field for this.

I did find one on the Connect IQ store (haven't tried it though): Workout Countdown

This data field counts the distance or time backwards to zero during a training session.

EDIT: actually there is a built-in field - Step Duration - like soptunna said below

  • Am I misunderstanding your query? Do you lack "Workout Fields" as an option for Data fields on the FR265? On the FR955 (Firmware 19.18) there are:

    _Workout Fields_

Step Duration (Idle screen text: 'TIME 0:00oo')

Step Time (Idle screen text: 'STEP TIME 0:00')

Step Pace  (Idle screen text: 'STEP PACE 0:00')

When running a workout, the screen text for "Step Duration" changes to (for a 10 minutes step) "TIME TO GO 9:59" one second after start - ie counting down.

"Step Time" text is "STEP TIME 0:01" counting up and "Step Pace" has "STEP PACE 0:00" since I'm sitting in a chair with no GPS connection.

I know for a fact that they work 'in the field' as well, since I use "Step Duration" and "Step Pace" on one of my own data pages.

Edit: And "Step Duration" changes to 'DIST. TO GO' or something like that, counting down the distance if the step is for such a measure.
