Bike ride recorded as stress, MoveIQ not working?

Hi. I've been wearing my Forerunner 265 since today. But I noticed that the bike ride (2 x 30 minutes) was not recognized. Move IQ is on. It detects stress in these minutes, even though it was physical activity. Is this recognizable, and how can it be solved?

  • Move IQ does not start an activity with a Forerunner (if that is what you mean), That only works with a few "health and wellness"vdevices, You need to start the activity manually.

  • If this happens regularly, I doubt there’s much you can do about it except hope that Garmin improves its activity detection algorithm. You could always contact Garmin support ([email protected] or https://support.garmin.com/). If you can reproduce the problem, maybe they have a way to gather data so the algorithm can be improved.

My Watch Is Having Trouble Detecting Move IQ Events

The Move IQ® automatic activity detector allows your Garmin® watch to automatically detects certain types of exercise such as biking, running, swimming, walking, or using an elliptical machine. Continuous movement of at least 10 minutes will tag an exercise as an event. If you have a situation where a particular exercise is not being recognized, ensure the following:

    • Exercise must be continuous and last at least 10 minutes

    • Exercise is one of the Move IQ event identified types

    • Device is being worn on the wrist

Clearly your bike ride meets the above criteria, unless you’re not wearing your watch on your wrist.

If an exercise is being missed and not tagged as a Move IQ event, it is likely due to the movement being outside of our algorithm detection.

I mean they’re stating the obvious here, but it also shows that they’re aware of cases where their algorithm doesn’t work…
