Half marathon coaching plan with Greg McMillan

Has anyone used the garmin coaching for a half marathon with Greg McMillan? I’m 3 weeks out from my race and I had no long run this week and now looks like no long run next week either. It’s too soon to taper. Training next week looks more focused on pace, which is good, but feel I need more than a 60 minute run (goal is 2 hours) this close to race day. Had long runs once a week up until now. Does anyone know if there might be another long run coming or perhaps I should just go rogue from my plan??

  • I'm seeing the exact same thing - its like the long runs just dropped away from the plan six to eight weeks before race.  I"m getting challenging Tempo runs but nothing over an hour.

  • Yep, pretty similar for me. Decided to add an easy hour on to a 60 minute run (with 30 goal pace) having not run for 2 hours for maybe 3 weeks and felt like I was running through treacle! Was much warmer today though so that and a more undulating route than usual likely added to this! Don’t know whether veering off plan was the right decision, but will find out in the race in a couple of weeks!

  • I'm two weeks out and likewise am freaked out that an hour is hard, and 90 mins is a memory.  That said - I'm running times way faster than my 20k pace, which makes it fun to walk on and be credible on 5k race days.  I have serious anxiety that 20k is going to feel like 12k too long.
