265 Super Inaccurate Step Counter

I just bought a 965 for myself and a 265S for my gf. We went out together wearing them for the first time, and I even walked more than her....the end result

965 =4418 steps
265S =7903 steps.

The 265S severely counted the car ride steps; a little deviation is expected, but this was disappointing. We will try this again after a factory reset and re-install of all updates.

I doubt keeping the 265s watch, does anyone else have this problem?

  • You're just starting to use Garmin, the usual story. These are not very simple devices and you need to know how to use them. In cases similar to yours, a Google search helps me. For example, in this particular one garmin step count accuracy I found My Garmin Watch is Not Accurately Counting Step. Look, this usually helps to understand what the problem is.

    One more question, do you and your wife have the same stride length?  To make a valid comparison when measuring steps, the watch must be worn by the same person, otherwise it may simply be an super inaccurate comparison..

  • How tall are both of you ?

    Different height and stride lengths can affect the steps.
