Training for a race with elevation changes

Im training for a running race coming up in a few months using the daily suggested workouts with the phase plans, which can be seen in the primary race widget.

The problem I'm having is that there are a few significant elevation changes along the course and from what I know so far garmin doesn't provide any workout suggestions to prepare us for this.

I'm not able to train on the course but where I do train is usually on the flat road. So I'm interested in how you all go about this. I'm currently in the Base Phase and unsure how I should bring in elevation runs without stuffing around with my stats in a negative way due to slower pace running uphill, and if I was to manually add workouts to my plan how should I do this, should I do elevation on base runs, tempo, threshold, or vo2max runs. And, what phase of the plan  should I concentrate doing this on.

I just think it's a bit absurd that there's no daily suggested workouts for elevation changes when the watch recognises elevation though the course we upload with its course prediction times adjusted for elevation, and also pace plan pro sees elevation too.

I just can't see myself successfully completing this particular race if I just follow through with the daily suggested workouts without elevation runs, considering the race has a lot of it.

No I'm not interested in doing the Coach training, this discussion is about the daily suggested workouts which are adjusted to the course we add to the calendar.
