Heartrate-signal coming from optical sensor or hrm-strap?

How to tell from where the heartrate signal is coming from - optical sensor or hrm-strap?

Is there a way to check on the watch via some icon or menu-item?

I'd like to make sure that the signal is actually coming from the more accurate hrm-strap - both outside of an activity and during.

When starting an activity there is this quick popup notifying me on the watch that the external hrm-sensor was found, but aren't there any other indicators? Or is there a way to check in the connect-app within a recorded activity where the signal was recorded on?

  • during an activity the hrm strap becomes active if it is connected to the watch, as soon as u end any activity, the optical sensor of the watch becomes active automatically...so the hrm strap is active only during activities...

  • ok, and how could i tell that its successfully connected during an activity?

  • the first indication is the pop-up, that u already know about which shows up at the start of any activity...

secondly, when u are connected to hrm strap, the heart rate is not not laggy like the sensor on the watch...so if ur heart rate is changing constantly its most probably the hrm strap..

and if u want to be sure that u are using the hrm strap during an activity, just disable the heart rate sensor of the watch when u start an activity...

  • you can always go to the settings/sensors and there you can see whether it is connected or not

  • yes, this seems to be the way.. either in or out of an activity its possible to navigate there and check if the hrm is "connected" or "searching.." - a kind of icon indicating it in the activities waiting state pre-start would be still nicer imho.

  • Just peek under the back of the watch.  The green leds tell you.  If they are on solid, they are being used in the activity.  If they are flashing, it's 24x7 OHR.  If they are off, an external HRM is connected.

Using sensors&accessories is a bit of a catch 22. as when you do that. it can start searching/connecting. and you don't see the state before.
