Cannot connect to Matrix ICR50 smart trainer. Either as Bluetooth power sensor or as a smart trainer.

Matrix ICR50 is a bluetooth smart trainer that connects to strava, zwift, etc by bluetooth, so must be fairly standard.  The ICR50 does not have ant+ support.  The bluetooth is FTMS compliant.

I put the matrix in pairing mode.  It told me the bluetooth id to look for and went into a pairing screen.

I put the forerunner 265 in "add sensor" and tried adding a smart bike.  Nothing found.  Then I tried adding a power meter. Nothing found.  Then I told the 265 to look for any sensor.  Nothing found.

What else can I try?

I think the watch hardware works -- it connects to my concept2 pm5 rower via ant+ and my polar h10 via ant+.

GOAL:  Get some power data into the 265 so it will give me VO2max.  I am not a runner.  For biking, my home trainer will tell me watts, but does not broadcast them.  Garmin will not use hand entered power data to do vo2max calculations.  Rowing, the 265 gives me rowing stats including wattage, but won't use them to set vo2max, lactate threshold, etc.  So I want to connect the gym's Matrix cycling trainer to get it's power data.   If there is another way to get the power data in that will trigger the garmin analytics that would work also.

  • I see bluetooth FTMS is a problem,  I should have seen that before posting.

Please still give me alternatives to get VO2max, etc. if you know of any.  At this point I'm thinking setting my trainer to constant wattage then using an ant+ simulator to input the wattage (terrible solution).
