possible issue with latest firmware 17.24

my FR265 auto updated this morning to lastest firmware and now it crashes and goes into reboot loop overtime the Bluetooth on my phone is on.

my trouble shooting 

after latest firmware update to 17.24 I am having problems with the watch crashing and going into a recurring boot loop.
iPhone 14 Pro with latest firmware and latest version of Garmin connect.
the only way to get out of recuring boot loop is to turn bluetooth of and watch will start. if I then turn bluetooth back on the phone watch crashes again (trying to sync with garmin connect app.
I then turned bluetooth of and deleted pairing on phone - turned bluetooth back on and re - paired up phone and watch - it will then be stable for a while but I had to redo these steps 3 times yesterday and its justs happened again today. there is obviously a problem with the latest firmware pushed to the watch as it worked before perfectly - albeit I have only had the watch for 5 days.

any others have this problem

  • I'm having the exact same problem with my 265s which I've had since June.  Garmin just told me to enroll in the beta program which it seems (from reddit and other posts) is not a wise decision.  I'm about to contact Garmin again and ask them for a better solution.

  • They told me to hard reset the watch which i did. Might have helped need to see how today goes. One issue though is that it deletes all the data on the watch including your health data and customisation. Now I assumed that it would all have been saved in garmin connect and would sync across but some hasn’t. The customisation is lost. Also gaining status and readiness has gone. Now I have only had watch for a week so not an issue but for you I would double. Heck with garmin what will be lost if you do. 
    I had forgotten how flaky garmin software can be after 3 years with an Apple Watch - really like the 265 but garmin still have some time to catch up with apples ease of use and rock solid software 

  • Nope still happens just had first crash of the day 

  • UGH.  Let me give that hard reset a go, too.  The rep told me to do a soft reset.  I'll chat with Garmin on Monday, too.

    That's a bummer that not all your customisations have saved!  I think I might have to just deal with that. 

    I'm a former AW wearer, too.  Though, to be fair, I've had my AW crash once and lost entire year of data - it's just my luck!

  • Same problem here with my FR 265S. It just continuously reboots in a loop. It started doing that yesterday (1. Dec) after the latest Update. Connecting it to Garmin Express on the Laptop didn't help (since now that program was also crashing!?). After I rebooted it on purpose (15s press on Light) it seemed to recover and was fine - except that I had to redo all of my customisations and order of items etc. 

    Today it just started doing it again. It's been more or les continuously rebooting for the best part of 2 hours now. Rebooting or connecting to Garmin Express has not helped this time.

  • See my initial comment about turning Bluetooth on phone off that has stabilised issue for me - I have sent logs etc to garmin but as they only work Monday to Friday won’t hear anything until next week. Please raise ticket so that they know there is a widespread issue 

  • Thanks for the tip with bluetooth. That stops the constant reboot (but obviously doesn't solve the issue). I have now also raised a ticket with Garmin. Hopefully there will be a solution soon!

  • Just been a new firmware for the 265 that states it is maimed at fixing this bug so assume 965 will get similar one 17.26 version
