FR265 does not react to turning off app notifications

One thing that's driving me nuts in my new Forerunner 265 is that it does not react to turning off notifications for apps at all. I just want to only have notifications for calls and messages, nothing else - when I turn them off in the settings though, it does not care, it still shows me every little thing and vibrates while at it. Tried changing through the app, directly on the watch, tried rebooting, what have you, but there's just no effect. It's clearly a bug which is a shame for one of the main running models - can I do anything to make it cooperate? I don't want to constantly have to change the watch into do not disturb - I want it to disturb, just not with a vibrating notification that someone sent me a reel every 15mins for the whole frickin day...

To add to that, the same goes for during workouts… Whatever I select in the settings, I'll still be receiving nonsense app notifications (like instagram) during activity… I'm really dissapointed, it was supposed to be the flagship runner's watch and the most trivial setting doesn't work :/

Hi Tigro!

Please follow these steps from How Do I Set Up Which Notifications Display on My Garmin Device?

Open the Garmin Connect app.
Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).
Select Settings.
Select Notifications.
Select App Notifications.

From here, toggle to enable or disable all smart notifications or customize by selecting individual apps.

“App notifications” doesn’t exist in the App version I have. And my forerunner 265 also keeps showing app notifications when I turned those notifications off on my iPhone.

The steps I listed above are for Androids. Please view How Do I Set Up Which Notifications Display on My Garmin Device? and select iOS for the steps.

If this does not resolve your issue, please reach out to Garmin Product Support directly. This type of troubleshooting is most efficient if you can speak with a live agent directly.

I’ve been having this problem too and just found out how to remove these notification. I have an Apple phone but hopefully it’ll work for you as I don’t believe the layout should change. I opened the Garmin connect app, clicked more then Garmin Devices. I clicked on Forerunner 265 then there’ll be Notifications & Alerts. From there you’ll find Smart Notifications and you can switch off whatever it is you’d like. I really hope this helps!

I have noticed that I still receive notifications during activities even with Smart Notifications turned off after this last update. Is there something else I should be doing?
