Slow running with added arm, leg, and hand weights lowered my VO2Max! Can it adjust for added weights?

Recently I started running with my wife who is slower.  I weigh 150 pounds but add about 18 pounds on my arms, legs, and also hold hand weights.   That makes the run much more challenging for me and gives me a more intense workout at the lower speed.   Unfortunately, my 265 does not know I am carrying weights.  After about 3 weeks it lowered my VO2Max score.

I guess it detected that I am slower and breathing harder so it lowered my score.

Is there any way to adjust it or trick the software somehow to comprehend the extra weight?    It would be nice if there was a variable where we could enter extra weight.

  • After a lot of research I see that the activity "Trail Run" records everything but does not update the VO2Max number.    That is one way to not be "penalized" with a lower VO2Max whan running with weights.

Ideally there should be a way to enter the extra weight somewhere and have the Garmin figure it out.

Does anyone else have any tricks?
