Combining data from two Garmin watches (FR265S + Swim2/FR55/FR745)

Hello guys, as the titles says i would like to know if using two watches would make workout data to be shared and reports (training readiness, recovery time etc.) to be generated using both watch's data.

Long story short, i got myself a Forerunner 265S but at the moment I'm too concerned of using it during swimming activities.

Even if i wear it 24/7 except for swim sessions, my reports such as Training readiness, status and recovery time do not take into consideration the swim workout I've done...neither if I'm manually adding swim activity (which can only permit to input distance and time), effectively it doesn't make a difference in reports.

Therefore I'm evaluating the option to buy a refurb/old swim 2 / forerunner 55 / forerunner 745 to use only for swimming. My question is, how does it works if I record my swim workout using another Garmin and then sync into my Garmin connect? Does the reports (that are only available on 265s) take into consideration the workout? Also, do i need to buy a watch that has recovery time and/or training readiness/status feature? Or its not necessary since it will get generated by 265s?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions, I'm also open to other watches suggestions

  • Why don't you use it to swim,? I use my 965 with no issue.

There is a new Unified Training Status that Garmin implemented , see here and the devices that work with it.

Also the older Physio True Up:

  • Well i know it may sounds dumb, but i broke my old Apple Watch just after 2 swim session...and after this experience i learned the lesson, a water resistant watch is not a waterproof watch. Furthermore dealing with warranty terms to get a free replacement is not something i would like to face...I'd rather lose/broke an old 100€ watch than a newly bought 265S...

Thanks for the links, as from my understading to get "Training Readiness" i need two devices capable of Unified Training Status, while for recovery time and training load at least one and the other should have TrueUp. However it doesn't specify (but i guess i got it) if the other device should have recovery time and training load features.

    So to sum it up:
Option 1: For all data to be sync and shared i need two Unified Training Status devices...which are all pricey and therefore i have to discard this option

Option 2: For, at least, "recovery time" and "traning load" i need to buy a watch with TrueUp capabilities and that has both "Recovery time" and "training load" features. Which between the 3 i mentioned above should only be the 745

    Do i miss something?

  • I believe that is correct from the way I read it.  I swam many times with the 955 before the 965 with no issues , but I get your reasoning. You may be fortunate and find a used 255 at the same price as the 745 given the different feature set.

  • Do you mind telling me for how many time have you used the 955 as well as frequency and intensity of your swim sessions?

  • I swim (not that regularly) in an indoor public pool mainly in the winter months . I checked in the last year I have done:

40 Swims , 27.6 KM and 14h44mins  som with 955 and more recently with 965

Included in this is approx. 1km of open water swimming in a nearby lake.

So far this month (also included in the above) I have been 8 times , 4.3km , approx 2 hours (I am normally at the pool about 30 mins), all with the 965

I hope that helps. Hopefully someone who swims more than I do can pass more usable comment.

  • Bro do you find the swim distance or laps for the pool accurate ?

My distance is not accurate. Many times I need to edit the number of laps.

  • OP I think you are looking for physio true up.

    Forerunner 265 has this.
