Daily suggestions contradict load focus

The daily workout suggestions given by my watch seem to contradict the type of running workout I should be doing according to my load focus. Looking at the load focus optimal range, currently my Anaerobic bar is 1/3 full, High Aerobic 2/3 full and low aerobic is just about full. My next 3 daily suggestions are all low aerobic workouts- I don’t understand why this is? I would’ve thought the watch would give daily suggestions that would help get the load focus to where it should be?

It does, but it also looks at other parameters like Training Status, Training load, recovery time and, if you have a running race scheduled, the overal perioditization of your training program.

For example, your watch could recommend a series of base runs to create space in terms of training load for a harder workout, if other parameters of training readiness are still OK.

From my experience with 2 5k races, the DWS did not manage to perfectly balance the load focus and high aerobic load was prevailing. I am OK with anaerobic training not being the top priority because although it is great for strength and speed, it is also detrimental to lactate treshold improvements (one of these trade-offs...)

  • Thanks for your answer. I am training for a 10k and as far as I know the DWS are to get me ready to run the time I would like for this race. I have 8 weeks to go so I’ll check the load focus again nearer the time to see how it all balanced out
