FR 265 Keeps Going Back To Sleep Mode

Hi Garmin Team!

My 4 week old Forerunner 265 has been acting weird.

My sleep schedule is pretty much locked in from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. I am in the night shift so my sleep is in the mornings.

When I wake up before the 2:00 PM end of sleep schedule, and I wake up the Forerunner, it keeps going back to sleep mode and does not have any sleep data recorded.

Only when I change the sleep schedule does it go back out of sleep mode.

No data recorded for the past 3 days now

I've done soft reset, factory reset, hard reset and issue is still occurring.

I haven't monitored it after the last power reset.

I am using version 4.19 of the software.

Thanks

  • You mean you manually put sleep to off when you wake up before 2pm ?

Why not just leave the watch when you wake up?

By 2pm, your sleep should automatically off and the watch will calculate your sleep time accordingly.

  • It's working properly now and some observations I noted down

Yes that's correct and I never thought of doing what you said until now.

1.) I also realized that it might be the bezel silicone case i put around the watch that might be pressing the buttons accidentally.

2.) I observed that the watch keeps the sleep mode on and returns it to sleep mode even after waking it up because you are still in the sleep window

3.) The no sleep data might be due to sometimes broken sleep duration. I sometimes only get less than 2hrs especially when being disturbed.

    So far so good :)

  • Take care of your sleep.

I am also a night shift worker. I need to frequently adjust the sleep schedule.

Not sure if you are aware. The daily schedule is offset by 1 day.

Lets say you set sleep on Thursday from 11am to 5pm, the watch will trigger sleep from 11am to 5pm on Wednesday.

  • That I did not know.

I guess that's Garmin's way of saying keep a regular sleep schedule.

I think safest way around is to set 1 standard sleep schedule for the week, except during days off.

So the easiest way to understand is the schedule set for the day affects the previous day?

  • You set sleep on Thursday from 11 pm to 8 am.

That means the watch expects you to sleep on Wednesday 11 pm and the sleep window is for Thursday data.

This becomes a bug for night shift workers who sleep and wake up on the same day.

  • and

We changed the Sleep Schedule layout, so it should no longer seem offset. Follow the steps to set a schedule from Setting Sleep and Wake Window Times in Garmin Connect, and you'll see that the windows now show two days at time, instead of one singular day.

  • Thanks. Seems like fixed.

    Tested on Garmin connect app.

  • It works fine for most times except for this one.

My sleep for Saturday (11am to 5pm) triggered on Friday.

I adjusted to Saturday (12pm to 5pm), I was out from sleeping on Friday.

  • Replicated the problem again.

The schedule seems to be haywire after crossed days ie Wed - Thu

  • The sleep schedule is still offset for a user who is working shifts.

Garmin you have the permission to access my account.

Please fix it. The sleep is not following the schedule perfectly.
