HR glitch - wrist HR is completely unreliable

Today I went for a hike and after many hours of correct readings the HR just skyrocketed to ~150 (way too high) without any reason and stayed there for 10 minutes, when I get off the watch and on again. Then it went immediately to 70 (way too low) and just slowly went up to the realistic ~100.

It was not too tight, not too lose, and I even tried to reposition it on my wrist many times before getting it off.

This was not the first case, it was reported many times - no result, it is still a garbage.

The real beautiful aspect of the story that the HR was broadcasted only to the garmin GPSMAP 67, and there is a critical bug in that device, so it is unable to sync the activity correctly or sometimes at all to the garmin connect so now I have no data of this.

Nevermind, I don't care at this point, I stopped to record any activities in garmin ecosystem (the data is completely worthless anyway) - just let you know that you just cannot count on the HR readings.

  • I've seen similar things, under-reporting by 30-40bpm for minutes at a time.  Was hoping it was going to be fixed in 4.19 (since the Fenix 7 complaints died down after a FW update) but seems to be the same.

It's been OK with a couple of different external sensors, but a real shame and such a basic thing for a fitness watch to screw up.
