Move alert - how to check the status

I started using my new 265s this week (having switched from a Fitbit Charge 4) and I've turned on the "Move alert" feature (as I, previously, really appreciated my Fitbit reminding me to get up from my desk and walk around the house for a couple of minutes).

What is confusing me, is that I can't find any way to see the current status of the Move alert - the alert pops up, then after I walk around for a bit another alert pops up to let me know it has been reset.

If the alert pops up in the middle of something, I'm often left trying to remember if I have responded to it or not. It looks like I have to just wander around for about 200 steps and see if an alert pops up to let me know the counter has been reset?

I've tried searching for answers and I have found mentions of a "Move bar" that fills up / empties as you sit still / walk around a bit, but I've not found any way to get this to show (I've tried looking through the data fields I can add to the watch face - I've not worked out what all of the icons mean yet, but none of them look to be the one I want; I've tried adding various glances or checking the 'steps' glance for more data, but none of them seem to show a this "Move bar").

Am I missing something? Or is it the 265 that is missing this feature?

  • You'll find watch faces that show the 6 levels of the move bar.  Here's one of mine for example:
Simple Lean | Garmin Connect IQ

It's the pink arc at the bottom in the main picture.

  • Thanks for the answer - but I'm not looking to use a different watch face to do this, I just wanted to find out if there was a way to display the value in the standard watch face (which I'm sticking with for the moment) or in once of the glances. I don't mind having to dig a little to see it, I just don't want to have to switch to a different watch face, then switch back again ...

  • If the native watch face you're using doesn't show the move bar, try another one (There are many on the watch).  And there are many, many CIQ watch faces that show it.  I don't see a native glance to show it.

  • I spent a decent amount of time trying to figure out how to add the bar to the default watch face.

At the end of the day, I could only find or get the move bar by using a different watch face from Connect IQ that had it added.

  • If I remember correctly the move bar used to be shown on steps page bottom. The one that is shown by tapping the watchfaces steps data field. When I got the fr265 I was looking for it like you do right now. They must‘ve killed it around that time. There has been a forum article describing this with screenshot which is also gone.

To my knowledge there is no other way but to install an additional Watchface to have the move status shown

Besides some other features the move bar thing has always been one of the reasons to get a Garmin instead of one of the competitors offerings. Really sad they don‘t keep this beloved feature/visualization alive.

  • This face has the move bar:

I suggest you contact the dev and ask them to support the 265 (the 255 is supported)
