The flashlight should remember the configuration the last time it was used when invoked via hot key or controls menu.
Especially if trying to preserve night vision with the red light, it blinds me every time the near-full-brightness white light comes on.
Bad for sleep hygiene too - cannot avoid the blue component of the forced-default 67% brightness white light.
