FR 265 Swimming randomly breaks intervals

I'm a new FR 265 owner, upgraded from a Vivoactive 4 a few weeks ago.  My primary aerobic workout is swimming laps indoors in a 25 yard pool.

The issue I'm having is that occasionally, for no reason I can figure out, the watch will split an interval into parts.  For instance, during my last swim, I was doing a 1000 yd interval, and at some point in the middle, I looked at the watch and it said I had done 550 yards - I felt like I'd done more than that, but I lose track a lot - which is why I have a watch to track distances LOL  Anyway, when I got to the end and entered a rest period, I scrolled down the stats screens and lo and behold, the watch showed the total distance covered as 1100 yards;  It had started a new interval after 100 yards which I did not notice while swimming.  Note:  The total time was correct, and upon review afterwards, there's just two consecutive intervals with no rest break in between.  I've done 4 swims with this watch so far, and this has happened during 3 of them, with the breaks happening at 350 yards, 150 yards, 50 yards twice, and 100 yards - i.e. nothing consistent.

Is anyone else experiencing this?  Is there a sensitivity setting or something that can be tweaked to stop this from happening?

Other than this irritating issue, I love this watch - it is a massive upgrade over my Vivoactive 4 Slight smile

Thanks,

Andy

  • It's it also doing auto lap based on time?

  • I don't think so - the total elapsed time is still correct, i.e. if I did 200 yards in 3 minutes the watch might show two intervals, 150 yards in 2:15 and then 50 yards in 0:45 = correct time and correct distance, just split into unequal parts randomly...

I've watched it carefully and cannot find any pattern whatsoever, so I'm thinking there is some certain (rare) movement I'm doing with my hand on some turns that is signalling the watch to start a new interval...

As a further update, I did 3000 yards yesterday and the entire workout was recorded flawlessly by the watch.

    Thanks,

    Andy

  • Hmm, what if you do 2 laps fast and the 3 slow?  Is it trying to group them by speed?
