Base Pace Too Slow

I got a new Forerunner 265 for my birthday a month ago and I love it. Every other day I do the suggested run. It is always a base run of 30 to 40 minutes. And the suggested pace is always nearly 10:00/mile. I literally can’t run that slow. So I will run 30 to 40 minutes at very easy which is around 8:30/mile or so. At the end of my run, I will let Garmin know that it was easy and that I felt strong. Will my watch eventually realize that 10 minutes is too slow for me and change my base pace?

Yes it will. Make sure your HR Max is set up properly and that you run a gamut of workouts to keep your training focus balanced. It might take a few weeks for the watch to acquire HR + Pace information across various durations.

  • Make sure your max HR is set correctly.

You can also switch your training to target HR instead of pace.
