Watch unlocks when ANY key is held down - any way to disable this behavior?

Hi all!

When I lock my FR265 (either by auto-lock, or using a hot-key I've set up), I notice that when I hold down ANY key while locked, it unlocks.

I have an Epix 2 and FR745, and this doesn't happen with either of them.

Is there a setting I'm missing that disables that behavior? Or is this some new unwanted "feature" of this watch that i can't disable?  This is really stupid, because if any button gets held down during an activity, for instance (eg. while skiing it presses against the jacket cuff, which has happened quite often to me), then it starts reacting to button presses.  This is BAD.  My hot-key uses a 2-button hold to activate unlock, so that's more secure.

  • I'm on the phone with Garmin support; they were asking if/saying it had something to do with Bluetooth pairing with a phone (because the manual talks about Smart Lock's interaction with Bluetooth paired phones).  But I haven't even set up the watch's connectivity (phone or wifi or anything).  I'm trying to get that point across (that this has nothing to do with Bluetooth).

    I'm on hold now.

EDIT: Okay, the support person opened a case, and had me upload a video of this happening.  I updated my firmware to the latest, and it still happens.  HOPEFULLY this is a bug (and will be fixed in a future update) and not intended behavior.  Because that would suck.

    hi,

am also not happy how the unlock works (coming from epix2)

am using the FR965 and it behaves the same as your FR265

as you say it is different on the Forerunner 745, it must be a bug on our FRx65 devices

care to request and share the case number , so others can join the case ?

or join the beta program and log it as a bug Wink

    happy & safe sporting

  • I'll look into the beta program.  Not sure how knowing the case number would help - it's internal, isn't it?

    I don't think it's anything that's made public.

Or do you work for Garmin?

    nope not Garmin linked Wink

knowing the case number so other users can mention and join it when they contact Garmin Support

higher number in the case is higher priority solving it Wink

getting no case number = low priority

just insist on getting the number

    happy & safe sporting

  • Well, the emails I've been having have this in the Subject: Ref: 24388675K1 Q#:1002452

    Does that help?
