Inconsistent button feel for FR265 buttons?

Hey there folks...

So just like with other Garmin watches I've had, I've noticed that my new FR265 (bought from Garmin site) has some inconsistent button action.

Three of the buttons are near-silent when pressed.

Two of them make a small metallic "*THINK*" sound when pressed.

No big deal, but I wonder why it's so hard for Garmin to produce devices that have the same feel and sound from all the buttons.

Anyone else notice this?

Not a huge deal, the buttons seem to work fine, but thought I'd mention it.

  • yes, the buttons are inconsistent - more precisely you have a button lottery: if you are lucky, or have a chance to select from many devices, you can select the better and you can hope that it won't degrade with time

that is probably the part of the garmin's product positioning: the buttons on the fenix series is much refined

with 2 buttons I have double unclick, the 3 others are mushy, but okayish

  • What's a double unclick?

  • when you release a button, it should click only once - these click twice (a weaker and then a stronger)

  • Hmm - mine seem to do that (but I didn't notice it until you mentioned it).

  • Well, sorry then Slight smile

Otherwise, it won't bother me, the problem is that it is the back button. The watch on the left hand, pushing it with right hand is pretty hard (then it comes the double click) and unfortunately the UX is bad, because you need that back button, you cannot go back from a glance with touch.

So when the bad HW meets the bad UX then it will be a real problem.

  • Lol this issue never seems to go away on every new release.

Just get over it. If the buttons work as intended, just leave it.

  • Well yeah, we have to "get over it" unless we don't want to use Garmin devices.

But inconsistent button behavior, extra clicks, etc. isn't something we should just accept at this price point.

So I will keep complaining about it, in the hope that at some point, Garmin MAY take notice and fix it.
