When you got your FR265, what was the first screen it presented when you started it or plugged it into power?

So I bought an FR265 from REI.  I brought it home and plugged it into power.

Normally, I'd expect it to bring me to some startup screen for a new user.

However, instead, it showed a timer screen with the timer paused.

I discarded the timer, and it took me to a Bike screen.

This is pretty weird.  Might it be that someone had tried it out and returned it? I wouldn't think so given REI would then have to sell it as used; this was purchased as a new item, and at least LOOKED undisturbed in its packaging.

  • Yeah, it would have been interesting to see what settings had been entered.

As it was, I just noticed "Not the usual startup screen for a new watch (timer screen), I'll return it." and turned it back off.

The battery was at around 50%, didn't need to plug it into power.

It's quite possible that it got accidentally powered up and a bunch of "touches" as it knocked about in the package.  Never happened in any device I've looked at in the past, though.

I CAN say that an older FR device I had would sometimes turn itself on while in my backpack; I bought cases for my FR devices (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XJPVH7N), but it would even power up when inside the case; not sure how that happened, though newer devices haven't done that, so it may have just been a bug with that device.
