Ground Contact Balance FR265

I have recently purchased the FR265s - a great watch and really liking not only the improved screen but all the additional features and data coming from my previous FR245.

I really appreciate the inclusion of on wrist running dynamics - saving the need for a sensor - however I'm not sure about the feature I do want to analyse: ground contact balance (gct). The watch seems to suggest it has this and even lets you adjust a data field to show this visually as a gauge, however I don't see anything showing up when running and likewise can't access any data in Garmin connect after a run like I can with all the other metrics.

If it's known that the watch doesn't actually have this feature and I've just realised then my apologies, however it's not obvious when looking at promo material for the watch that it doesn't (and seems included along side the other wrist based dynamics). Though if it is meant to actually work from the watch can anyone let me know how they've got on with it?

The watch doesn't enable that You can only get GCB with the HRM-PRO or the RD pod. A watch is not in the centreline. If you look at the specs online you will see that GCB is with an accessory

What about wrist based running dynamics. This was like the headline feature when the 265/965 were released.

Added built-in Running Dynamics (e.g., Vertical Ratio, Ground Contact Time, etc…) without any sensor. dcr

Those are all working just Ground Contact balance is not part of the wrist based items , which is logical as it need a centered device such as HRM-PRO or RD Pod.

Yes, wrist based running dynamics is a NEW feature. Just like running power, you no longer need a pod/chest strap. Check out the reviews for the 265 and 965.

It has also been added to the Fenix 7, 955 and 255. Check out the beta forums.

This beta is currently in a pre-rollout release. This is a new delivery method where beta releases can be installed OTA (Over the Air via WiFi only). This process is only available for the Forerunner 255 Music. For more information on this change, please see our post in the discussion section here. This release stage will be followed by the traditional rollout which will include both versions of the Forerunner 255.

To download this update on the Forerunner 255 Music devices, go to: Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates
