Question abour Running Plans

Hello,

I am considering starting the Garmin Coach 5K Beginner 6-20 weeks plan.

I would like to know if all runs in this plan have to be done outdoor with the GPS function on ? I know the first one has to be done outside with GPS on, but what about subsequent runs ? Problem is I live in Hong-Kong and although doing the first run outdoor is no problem, a few weeks from now the heat/humidity won't let me run outside anymore, I'm going to drop dead. Can subsequent runs be done on the treadmill instead ?

Thank you

- Jean.

I have an (older) chest strap HR sensor from Polar, which my watch doesn't seem to recognise. Is there any way to make it work with my watch, or just no ?

  • For the times where the wrist sensor is working well, there is hardly anything to gain from wearing a chest strap. For the times it acts up, you will get wrong feedback from your watch regarding training effect and plans ahead.

There is also some additional running dynamics data if you have HRM Pro.
I don't think you can do a heart rate lactic threshold test without a chest strap.

  • It should be ANT+ or/and BT LE aka BT4.0 and higher H9-H10 works good. And may be a new battery will be helpful
