Forerunner 955 treadmill pace WAY off

For about a month now the pace of my treadmill speed workouts have been WAY off. The faster I run the bigger the gap. For example I’m running a 6 min/mile and my watch logs it as a 7:15. At the least it’s about 10 seconds off. I have been through chat support 3 times and have tried everything they recommend. I’ve never had this problem before. I was also told today that the sensor is expected to degrade as the watch is almost 3 years old. Is that correct? I had the fenix for 5+ years before this and this was never an issue.
today I was also advised to get the garmin HR chest monitor but I really would rather just have my watch work correctly. Any tips and trick would be appreciated

  • I always calibrate the run when I finish and use the pace on the treadmil display while I am running.

I suspect it has a default stride length stored and uses that and your cadence to work out the pace.  If you run at the pace corresponding to your default stride length it will give an accurate pace, but if you run faster or slower it is likely that your stride length will change and the pace will be off as a result.

I doubt the chest strap will improve things as it isn't a heart rate issue, and the running dynamics outputs may not be well calibrated on the treadmill because neither the watch nor the running dynamics pod/chest strap can estimate your stride length without GPS.
