Open water swimming with Garmin 245

Hi,

normaly I swim in a pool. Tracking the distance with my Garmin 245 works fine in the pool.
I want to start swimming in open water.

I have looked up for a tracking app for the Forerunner 245 but did not found any good.

Do you have any recomodation for me?

Not sure I understand the question. In Strava I see people are swimming in the sea.

I haven't tried open water yet, but IMHO it should work, except for having a bad GPS signal under water. So if your arm is outside of the water from time to time, then it might work. However I never tried open water swimming, so try it. Also there might be a setting for GPS in the activity settings. I'm not sure it's there for swimming (sorry, my 245 is used by my son now), and if that's the issue (that it is not possible to enable it) then I'm sorry for misleading you.

Ich wore my FR245 on a headband but it didn't work. No track recorded. When I stepped out of the water the track continued. My FR735 worked fine.
