Elevation data showing during run and bike activities, but not during hike activities for Forerunner 245

Have a wierd one here...

Recently (over the past 2 months or so), when using Garmin Hike mode on my Forerunner 245 and then looking at the graphs in Connect, the elevation graph is showing that the elevation is FLAT for SOME of my hikes.

Looking back on hikes from longer than 2 months ago, it seemed to record accurately every time.

Recent hikes with no elevation information in Garmin, sync'd with Strava, shows accurate elevation data in Strava.

My run and bike activities record and display elevation accurately in Garmin.

How can I correct this?

  • 245 doesn't have a barometer so it only knows approximate elevation from gps. And by default Garmin connect display "corrected" elevation. Is it possible that whether there's elevation displayed depends not on which activity you start, but rather where are you? Maybe the elevation correction data is missing from the map Garmin uses for that part of the world?
