Forerunner 245 is not recording my VO2 Max any more

My Forerunner 245 has stopped recording my VO2 Max and I haven't had a training status as a result for over two months. I'm running outdoors at least twice a week, (3 times last week) using GPS and for at least 20 minutes, but it is not recording VO2 max. It is measuring my heart rate fine though. Any ideas what's going on? Any solutions? I've read through the manual and I think I'm doing all the things I'm supposed to. Could it be a software issue?

  • To measure VO2 you need to maintain your heart rate above 70% of your maximum for a sufficient amount of time, I think about 10 minutes. How are you doing with this condition?

  • thank you for your response. In most of my runs I'm running over 70% of my Maximum heart rate for more than ten minutes so I really don't understand why it's not measuring my VO2. I generally run for 30 minutes - about 4 - 5k.

  • Do you use the Performance Condition field?

Maybe it will help you understand something, if it shows --- then VO2 is not determined, if any numerical value, for example -4, or 0, or +10 - then VO2 is determined. It changes dynamically during running, it is convenient. And did you do a soft reset?

  • the forerunner doesn't have performance condition field - it used to record whether I was baseline/above/below, but has stopped doing that. Nothing has changed in my running, so it is a mystery. I have not done a reset as yet.

  • the forerunner doesn't have performance condition field

FR245 has, see manual appendix data fields

  • Thanks for your help on this. I have changed the GPS settings and that seems to have sorted it out! thank you. Seems just having plain GPS settings on wasn't enough.
