Spotify No Content Error

A couple of days after my FR245 Music updated to 18.26, I went to play a Spotify playlist, and the screen just reverted to the watch face. Same thing happened for podcasts.

Scanning posts from others with past Spotify problems, I uninstalled the Spotify app from the watch, reinstalled it via Garmin Express, and logged back in via Connect. Now I have even less functionality. All playlists, etc. are gone from the watch, and attempting to add anything to the music library (playlists, recently played, podcasts...) just results in a No Content message.

I noticed this morning that a new software update was available - 18.27 - and installed it hoping that Garmin had noticed and fixed the issue. Of course not...

I have gone to Garmin support chat, and they verified that WiFi is working fine and that the Spotify app is installed fine. They said they would open (or add me to...that wasn't clear) a developer case with the help desk, but I have heard nothing.

I am on version 1.6.8 of the Spotify app, and everything has worked just fine for over a year.

  • I don't know what caused the original issue - playing anything just reverted to watch face - but I have discovered the cause of the "No Content" error. It was my fault, but I thought I would post the resolution in case others get the same error.

When the Spotify app was reinstalled and I logged in, my password manager defaulted to my wife's account, which is not a Premium account. Logging out and back in with my Premium account fixed the problem.

So it was user error in the end, but a message saying "Premium Account Required" instead of "No Content" would have saved me a few hours of anguish.
