Future Updates for Garmin Forerunner 245 (Post v13.0)?

Hello fellow Garmin users,

I'm reaching out to inquire about any potential upcoming updates for the Garmin Forerunner 245/245S, especially following version 13.0. As many of you might have experienced, this version has been notably problematic with issues related to battery drain. The user community seems to have a consensus on this matter.

It's been approximately six months since the last update was rolled out, and during this period, there hasn't been any visible communication regarding beta versions or upcoming fixes. This lack of updates is concerning, especially for those of us relying heavily on our Forerunner 245 for our training and daily activities. It would be really sad they stopped caring about this amazing watch.

I'm curious to know if anyone has information about possible future updates. Are there any plans from the developers to address these battery issues or to introduce new functionalities to the device? Any insights or shared experiences regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and responses in advance!

  • I guess they want to push us to the newer watches like 255 or 265 by breaking an old product.

  • might have reached end of life for support..  people who are buying the new watches are paying the current wages of the developers...  but the older watches dont have the same sensors as the newer ones and cant have all the functionality like HRV and HRV is part of the training readiness score.   why spend money develop new features for a watch that isnt being sold in large no's anymore?/ if you want people to buy the new watch, add new features to those watches to make them more attractive to buy, otherwise why would you upgrade when you can stay with your old watch model... i tend to buy an older model when they get specialed they devalue since they dont have all the features... and the 255's and 955's have been on sale a lot recently, only difference with the 265 and 965 is a brighter, higher res screen and its hundreds of dollars more...

  • Personally I don't have a problem with a manufacturer eventually abandoning updates for an older though still very viable product like my 245. I do have a problem with updates being abandoned after a buggy update or too soon after it was still being sold in the retail market. I've only updated once to 11.6; with buggy updates the issue.
