Forerunner 245 Music watch band causing rash

After wearing my watch for two or three days I develop a rash on my wrist under the watch band. I have never had such a problem with any other watch band whether silicone, nylon or metal.

I wear the watch continually as monitoring my sleep patterns, heart rate etc is an important feature of the watch.

The watch is removed for my twice daily shower and since the rash developed I have been cleaning the band with IPA wipes before putting the watch back on.

At first I thought it was an allergy, however creams, cleaning the band twice daily has done nothing to reduce this and I have had to stop wearing the watch. I have Googled the problem and see that many people have had a similar problem with little or no response from Garmin.

This is an expensive watch, purchased for me by my son and I would like to continue to wear it.

What , if anything, is Garmin doing about this and what solutions, apart from what I have already done, do they have?

  • Hundreds of people have similar problems, but millions of these watches were sold so it looks like millions don't have the problem. The good thing is that the band is easily changeable with a compatible band, so you might even be able to try one of your old bands that you know work for you.
