Expedition - climb

Hi All

My Garmin forerunner 245 is not logging my elevations during a run to the new exhibition climb challenges. The steps are logging to the hike challenges. Is there a way to fix this?

  • I assume that only works for watches with barometric altimeter… which the FR245 does not have

But yeah, irritating that you can join such a challenge with an incompatible watch.

  • Especially since the watch can measure elevations when on a walk or run

  • Maybe because it doesn't really measure elevation, but uses ground level (map information).

  • It's stupid anyway. I get that other watches have barometer (has lots of bugs, in fact it gets worse in each fenix6 firmware update) but hey, fr245 has a great GPS! You even know my altitude from the GPS - even if not super accurate, but on substantial climbs when you climb 600m even if you count for accuracy, it could count as 550m at least!

But even better: Garmin know where I ran, they even do automatic elevation correction in connect website! So why not getting the climb expeditions?

Sure, we all agree here. When I had my FR245 (got a 255 by now), I configured the „altitude“ field to my main page for hiking activities. And whilst „only“ coming from GPS, in the mountains it was always accurate with a margin of maybe 10 meters - so really quite good.

They could count that for the challenges
