Daily suggested workout

In May I was following the daily suggested workouts and was offered variety in the workouts. These included tired runs, easy runs, negative splits, pace runs etc. Unfortunately I picked up an injury and have now recovered and done my rehabilitation and easy runs to get back running regularly. At the beginning of November I started back with the daily suggested workouts but am getting frustrated with the same Base runs every time, I have now been suggested 35 base runs with no variety. These have only varied in time, starting at 36mins and the last 6 have been 49 minutes. On top of this, yesterday my VO2 max dropped to 53 and the training status report states "unproductive" saying the training load is optimal but my fitness is decreasing.  Despite the increase in running time my training status trendline has dropped everyday since the 49 base run was introduced. Nothing has changed in regards to sleep or nutrition.

How can I get back to the daily suggestion being a variety of activities?

How do I get my training status out of unproductive?

Cheers

Unproductive status

Training Load Trendline

  • About 80% of my suggested workouts are 40 mins easy runs. I typically run about 6 days a week and average around 60K/40M. About once every 5-7 days I get a faster workout Tempo or VO2.
I just do my own thing/follow a plan if I’m training for a race.

The suggested workout is a nice idea but it does seem to be fairly predictable and routine. For example 48 hours after racing a 10K at 100% effort it suggested a VO2 workout!

Unproductive is normally just for a few days, uncharted territory. Normally seen if you’ve rapidly increased your volume and/or intensity of your runs. I’ve seen that then a few days later it changes to productive or maintaining.

  • Thank you, I'll stick with it for a few days to see if the training status changes. Currently I am following the suggestion for fitness, With the time at 49 minutes I'm covering about 10kms so somewhere around 70k/week.  Since starting in November I have had a stretch of 9 runs with 1 rest day, then a stretch of 11 days with 1 rest day. The last stretch has been 3 runs - 1 rest day, 2 runs - 1 rest day and currently 3 runs with tomorrow unknown.
