HR activity when not wearing

I don't wear my watch at night to save my skin a little, so I set it by my computer in my home office and leave it there until the next morning (unless I'm charging it). Recently, my 245 will occasionally have sudden spikes in activity in the middle of the night. For example, last night, the HR monitor stayed on after I removed it for the evening at 11:30, then steadily rose from my resting 66 to 140-150 at 3 am and stayed there until 8 am. When I woke up and put on the watch, it started tracking normally again, but it had recorded over 300 intensity minutes for the day from the middle of the night.

Any clues on why this may be happening? I'd really like to have a more accurate measurement of my weekly activity minutes and heart rate without all of this false data.
