What is the foot pod sensor I see in my FR 245?

Hi everyone,

I bought a FR 245 and when I enter connect.garmin.com and click on "devices", I see at the bottom this "Foot Pod 17776". I don't know what this is since I don't have any foot pod.

I only have a Garmin HRM-Run, but I don't remember if this started to appear after I bought the HRM run or before.

Any idea on what this is?

If it's not too much to ask, when I go to the gym, sometimes I receive a notification on my watch saying "Spd/Cad connected". What would that be?

There's been a recent update where running dynamics sensors started providing pace, thus making them visible as a footpod.

That's what I'm getting (earler post) with Foot Pod 252773... With hrm run added not foot pod!

Thank you... That explains it. I'd expected to see the hrm listed but isn't... Guess it can't easily be two things in a single connection with the watch.

I'm not familiar with the technical details of this solution, but on some more recent watches the connection is more "streamlined", i.e. the watch is aware that this is not a real footpod, but rather an HR strap with footpod capabilities and shows it as such. Perhaps the 245 will receive this functionality with next firmare update. More details can be found in this review:
