Garmin watch is loosing Bluetooth connection on Android 13

Yesyerday my Pixel phone updated to Android 13 and I noticed the 2-nd time that it lost connection with the watch. Is this a google bug or a garmin bug?

  • Well, one more data point.  I'll preface this by saying I've read the buganizer thread and have a background in software.  From what some developers are noting there I don't know resetting the network helped.  Here's what I did:

    • installed the September patch
    • waited a day or two
    • wiped Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth
    • re-paired my watch <- took a few tries to get this working
    • for some hours it wouldn't connect at all
    • rebooted
    • now has stayed connected for 24+ hours

So, to my reading floppyrom is 100% correct, and it looks like a core issue with the new Android 13 BT stack.  But my VA3 and ConnectIQ 4.58.1 on a Pixel 5, Android TP1A.220905.004 has been working.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You do lose all saved BT devices and saved Wifi access points, and previous Saved Networks under the Internet menu haven't been repopulated by syncing with my Google account.

  • My Pixel just received the Sep 2022 update (21.24MB) that fixes a Bluetooth connectivity bug that occasionally didn’t let some devices connect. This update should be available to all Pixel phones. Manually check for system updates if your device has not installed this update automatically.
