Bizarre Heart Rate and Cadence.

On today's EASY run I was going down a slight incline at about and my wrist heart rate reading as c. 180 bpm (normally on this regular run its c. 130-140bpm).  I was not out of breath and my heart didn't feel like it was racing - I stopped and checked my pulse manually and it was no-where near 180.  A few minutes later these elevated readings dropped back to where they should be.  I have has AF in the past (and a successful ablation) so I know exactly what AF feels like - this was not AF.

After synchronising I looked back at the run on my computer.

Throughout my run the graph says that my cadence was between 320 and 330 spm!!!  BUT the summary has max run cadence as 175.  The export to Strava shows a normal SPM profile - its almost as though the graph in the garmin app has these results doubled!

Could these abnormal readings be down to the  v.9.60 software upgrade??

  • I think so. I have the same problem. Cadence is doubled on the graph. See my post.

Also, it's a long term problem that HR sometimes picks up cadence instead on wrist based HR. I thought it was only on older models though. Disappointing if it's still happening on the 245.

  • Same here.  Today's run up in the 300s.

  • Same here, cadence graph shows ~x2 values in connect, but average  & max cadence are reported it properly.
On the watch it seemed ok while running.

Edit: Strava seems ok too. I don't think this is related to 9.60 as I've other runs with this version that are ok, maybe related to connect ?
