new strength workout field is useless

I will try to explain this the best way I can since English isnt my first language

So the first thing, why cant we remove it? Its just super weird.
Second, if I scroll to another data field and finish a set, it just jumps back to the list with all workouts, why? If I have scrolled away from it, that means I dont want to see it.
Third, it doesnt show rest timer. So its impossible to know how much time I have to rest before my next set starts.
And forth, during an exorcise, it doesnt show the timer for how long its left before rest.

And the new screen where you can edit the reps and weight also sucks. First, the time you have to edit reps is WAAAY to fast. And since the watch only guesses right about 1/2245564 times means that you have to edit it after every set. And second, the new way you edit reps is just awful, lets say I do 50 squats and the watch recognizes 1, (which happens quite alot) I have to press the up button 49 times.

Thats all for me

  • new strength ui is so much worse, hardly an improvement, it has potential, but i don't know how this passed the beta stage without anyone complaining.

Firstly you have to scroll down to the timer field to know the timer of your reps, why don't put the timer in the same field as reps and sets?

Secondly, when you press the lap button and go to the rest phase it randomly goes to the excercise summary field, which in my case it's the 3rd field, to know the resting timer, again, i have to scroll to the timer field, i mean i can't even edit the fields in resting phase to remove everything but the resting timer, i can only edit the ones in the excercise phase.

Third, the new manual reps input is just awful for people who do high reps excercises, you need to keep pressing(or hold) the button until you reach the number. And to edit the weight you have to press the edit button(down) and then you enter the edit mode, why this convoluted way? If i'm editing the reps and then press the lap button just show me the weight editing field ready to edit, then if i don't want to change the number i just keep pressing the lap button until it's confirmed, same as before. I'm one of those who always manually inputs reps and weights because they change almost every one or two weeks, now i have to juggle with ten thousand buttons to do the same things as before.

  • At first I was excited as I liked the UI, but the actual experience is overall worse. It seems they didn't factor time based exercises at all (like planks), I do like the new rep and weight editing, and the listing of moves, but the actual interface while doing the exercise and resting time (pretty much the whole point!) is half-baked.

  • I couldn’t disagree more. I tested it today and it miles better than before. I even think they should develop a new data field for running with the same esthetics as this one. I love the heart rate graphics on at the upper part plus the time at the bottom. In the middle we could choose 3 other fields and that would be amazing.

  • That's not the one we're talking about.

  • Couldn't agree more.

First when I noticed a new UI, I was curious. But during my first workout, I was completely lost. I have totally no idea how this has come to a release. Did nobody tested this function in real life.

However I do like to first screen, but that's all. But mainly that you only see the workoutplan, and no progress and timing is for me frustating (there is also no workaround possible)

Question is how we can get this to Garmin. So that it changed in a next release?

  • 100% agree with you guys, the new UI might have 1 or 2 nice ideas in theory, but it is horrible for time-based workouts! No way at all to see the remaining set or rest time AT ALL.

Are there any Garmin representatives reading this forum? We need to bring this to their attention.

  • Yeah, its pretty obvious that the ones who created this doesn't do any workout them self's, or are using another watch than a Garmin

  • I really dont understand how this got through testing, its <moderator edited for language> annoying and garmin doesnt let me change the UI. My first thought was it looks cool but its so annoying that you always get thrown in this stupid Ui where you can see what sets are left but you cant see Pause Timer oder the next Weight......

I have to press like 5-6times after every set, common garmin please get your next update tested before release......

  • Agreed. Its useless. Just a timer is needed or a choice of data screens
