Garmin Sleep Widget Coming Soon??

So.......I've been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for Garmin to roll out a sleep widget to the Forerunner 245 Music.

We know it's supposed to be happening. But when is it gonna happen? I feel like we've been talking about this for years now.

If anyone has any news or updates comments them below.

IF it's not gonna happen I wish we could at least be told that, instead of waiting here hoping it's gonna come some day in five years.

  • Current update features:

    • Improvements made to on-device sleep detection and sleep staging.
  • It's not going to happen, Garmin said last year that they ran into issues with the sleep widget so it's not coming for the 245 series.  Wait for the 255, it'll probably be included then

  • Yes, I came across that very poor excuse, but I am curious as to what improvements they made to on-device sleep detection and sleep staging in version 9.60. The 745/945 change log also has the same improvements.

Are they using the same algorithm that is used on the 745/945, but simply omitting the sleep widget on the 245? This would make the most sense as sleep tracking contributes to recovery times and daily suggested workouts.

  • Garmin has been receiving a lot of bad press for subpar sleep tracking. I am glad they are finally tuning in and working on it. It makes no sense I need to wear my Fitbit at night and my FR during the day for sports if sleep affects training, but the values I've been getting from the FR245 are almost imaginary numbers.

Making a widget would be easy but it could also have been done before. In a way, it's better not to have a widget if the measurement is totally off. It's unlikely to be added still, unless they want to prolong the sales time of the FR245 which is an old watch by now but still very stylish and capable. I care most about the algorithms though and hope this update will bring some improvement.

What I don't get, by the way, is that sleeping and wake up time has to be setup manually. It's not just to go into quiet mode, it really determines when the watch starts monitoring sleep movements. If you work irregular hours and night shifts,  or do. daytime naps, this is quite a problem.

  • They are working on it but not for 245 which has the same hardware as the 945 which has it. They are marketing geniuses
