Software version 9.00 not installed

I just noticed there was a new version 9.0 announced already 4 weeks ago.

But my watch is still on 8.3. Automatic software updates are on, and I sync frequently. How is this software update triggered exactly?

On the other hand, I also noticed several posts reporting problems with the 9.0 version. So maybe I should be happy the software is not updated automatically?

  • Hi, if it works for you, I wouldn't do it.
Mine has been fatal since the update, it only marks the time correctly....

  • Usually I would agree, but in case of 9.0 it also upgraded the CIQ to 3.3.1, so if he's interested in the new features (watchfaces with body battery or stress data for instance) then he'll need to upgrade eventually.
Anyway the situation with FR245 and FW 9.0 is way better (judged by the forum, and BTW I also upgraded to 9.0 with nno problems) than Fenix 6 and FW 20.50 :(

  • Thanks a lot for the answers! But it still does not answer my question how to get this update if I wanted if. I do not see any option in the watch or the app to get this.

  • I've expenrienced something similar. You may consider connecting it to a computer and use garmin express instead, in my case it was complaining that there wasn't enough free space on the watch to proceed with the update, this may explain why it doesn't upgrade via garmin connect.
