Forerunner 245 keeps updating

My Forerunner 245 keeps giving a notification that there is an update available. After applying the update the watch keep notifying that there is an update available.

Current software version is 9.00 and after the update process the watch mentions "ANT+ software was updated"

I tried the following things:

- Reboot the watch

- Reset watch to factory settings

- Sync watch via Garmin Connect on Android phone / Macbook

But the update notification keeps coming. Anyone suggestions on how to fix this ?

  • I have switched to Polar. Too many problems with Garmin. They already changed my watch once. Then the ransomware. Now an update for which they are not responsible

  • Any solution to this. I am having the same problem.

  • All,

If you are still experiencing this, please make sure your watch has updated to sw 10.40.

If you are experiencing this on 10.40, please anser the questions from Garmin-Isabella's post:

Thank you for your participation in this forum thread. So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1) May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?

    2) May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?

    3) In what country do you live?

After receiving those responses, I would be happy to add you as an affected user to the reports that we have for this.

If you have not already done so, we encourage you to reach out to your local Garmin Product Support to explore if there are any potential exchange options available.

  • Hello , thanks for your feedback.

I already updated to SW Ver. 10.40 but still experiencing the same problem. The ANT/BLE Version remains still by 0.00 with the same results (notification of updates, restarts, battery draining, ...).

I already answered the questions from Isabella and also send my Garmin folder for further analysis to your experts. So I/we should already be on the list of affected users.

Furthermore I already got in contact with my local Garmin support (Germany). The proposed solution is to pay 130 EUR for an refurbished 245 Music. Which is - in my opinion - not a solution at all as it is not the fault of garmins loyal customers when an official SW has (multiple) bugs.

Therefore I would kindly ask you for a more customer-oriented solution.

    Thanks

  • thank you for your response.  I have passed along internally that this is still happening on sw 10.40.  I can confirm that Isabella has you added to the investigation as an affected user.  Currently, I do not have any updates on the status of this investigation, but as soon as any information is available, I'll be sure to post to this thread.

  • I can confirm that I experienced this issue on my Forerunner 245 Music when it was on firmware 9.60, but I still experience this behaviour with firmware 10.40

  • Hello Isabella,

    thanks for your contact.

1: of course, please contact me via email

    2: yes you have

    3: from Canada

I have disabled the auto-update for now. Please contact me when you have any news.

  • Me too. I changed the brand. Garmin has not responded

  • So quick update from my side:

Garmin contacted me to send in my watch for a further detailed analysis. I hope this will help to solve the problem und finally make available a software update.

  • All,

We were unable to replicate this behavior with the devices that we tested. If you are experiencing this, please see THIS link to update with Garmin Express.

If the issue persists, please start a new thread.
