Average pace on Garmin Forrunner 245 Music

Hi I have a Garmin forerunner 245 music . This replaced my apple watch. I found the battery life frustrating on the apple watch. I love the Garmin watch however when I set it to run, the average pace is all over the place and only tells me what I have actually done at the end of each KM. The apple watch showed you consistently what your pace was while you were running which made it easier to time your run for running events. Has anyone else found this, is this the case with all Garmin watches ?

  • Average pace or current pace? Current pace is typically problematic for GPS devices. I generally avoid that metric or use current lap pace instead. Also, I've moved this thread to the English forum instead of the German forum. You appear to know that language quite well. Slight smile

  • Hi sorry yes I meant current pace ,aside from the Apple Watch is there a watch out there that does this ?

  • Not aware of other manufacturers that do this better. I haven't run with current pace for years. I can test with my new EPIX and old Forerunner 920XT to see if this is still an issue.

Searching "Current Pace" comes up with several threads - https://forums.garmin.com/search?q=%22current%20pace%22

  • You should be able to see all of these on the various screens.

In the Run Activity the first screen should show the Current Pace, on the lap screen you can see the pace for the current lap (1 km, 1 mile, or manual lap depending on what you've configured), on a subsequent screen I have Current Pace and Average Pace together - although I can't remember if I've customised this screen to show these.

Current Pace is what you're doing now (This is just labelled 'Pace' on the watch)

Average Pace is for the whole run

Lap Pace is what you've done for the current lap (1 km/1mile etc)
