HRM Run very intermittent connection with Garmin 245 (no music)

My HRM-run (purchased Sept 2021) has intermittent connection with Garmin 245 no music (purchased Jan 2021). It appears as connected pre run, but during I can only see L/R balance, cadence data etc. very infrequently - most of the time it doesn’t show anything. After the run limited data is shown in the Garmin App. I have cleaned the strap etc and it can’t be the battery because the strap is so new.

I can’t tell if the heart rate shown after the run is from the strap or the wrist monitor.

Any ideas appreciated!

    If the watch uses the strap, it does not use the wrist monitor at the same time. So you can check, by having a look during the run, if the LEDs are in use. If yes, then the strap is not sending HRM data.

    But that is only after starting the timer for an activity, before and after it uses the wrist data (which irritated me first, so that I checked that during run).

    Regarding the other problems I have no idea, unfortunately. I used a BT LE strap from another vendor first and a HRM Dual now and both worked with my FR 245, but obviously they only send HR data and no more.
