Revert to pre-8.x

As 8.x is total disaster for me (no training status, huge battery drain) I would very much like to revert to pre. 8.crap version which worked much better or me (bluetooth connection with all my phones I ever owned never worked normally.. takes 30 minutes to synch)

Can someone suggest how this can be done?

  • Download the last beta and it has the previous version there with Instructions on how to roll back. Make sure you turn off auto update first

  • I have down graded my watch to test but it has not fixed the issue. I now see a status, although an incorrect one (detraining) as my 7 day load is showing as zero, even though I can see the running data for five of the last seven days. It’s recording the data but just not using it for any calculations.

  • My 245 came with 7.8 and I really liked it. I only had it a few days when it auto updated to 8.2. I wasn't conversant with the watch at that point to know that auto updates were enabled by default.  8.2 messed up the optical HR, HR readings dropped by 30+ BPM and I had issues with file saves. Do you think I could get Garmin to let me go back to 7.8?, OH NO, that is verboten (unless you had updated to a beta).

So I returned the watch to the store, they ordered in a replacement which came with version 5.5. Optical HR is working again, but I'd like to get back to 7.8. Can that update be found as a download?, NO that is VERBOTEN!

Garmin could easily make a LOT of people happy by allowing users to roll back to a previous version or selectively update to a released version other than the current live version, with the understanding that any released version other than the current live version will have issues of it's own and should a person experience those issues, for tech support an upgrade to the latest live version would be required.

It would not be fair to saddle tech support with trying to help  users running 15 different versions of software on the same watch.

But, I don't care that under 7.8  the watch might have an issue with Yoga, or swimming, I don't use it for those activities.

I care that I get the best result for Running, HR and Fitness and after that battery life. If 7.8 (or what ever) is the best release to support my needs for how I use the watch, why in world would Garmin not allow me to have it?!!

Again with the understanding that using tech support for an issue with 7.8 would require an update to the latest live version. For example after using the watch with 7.8 for a while, a person discovers a problem with sleep metrics, sorry that was updated in 8.3 (just a plausible example, not based on fact)..You want sleep metrics to work, upgrade to the latest live and suffer what ever might have been broken in the latest release, your choice.

GARMIN YOU COULD MAKE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAPPY ALLOWING ROLLBACKS AND SELECTIVE SOFTWARE UPGRADES WITH INFORMED CONSENT.
