Mismatch between total distance and per km alerts

Hi all. Observing an odd recurrent behaviour on my Forerunner 245 Music. I can post more diagnostics if helpful (model, firmware etc.)

Description:

Select a "Run" activity
Select "Suggested workout", set to pace not HR
Wait for GPS to acquire before starting the activity
Begin workout
Touch no buttons at all once the activity is started

My watch is set to alert me every km and it seems to do this correctly during the workout. However, as soon as the workout ends, if I continue to run and let the activity time continue, the total distance being tracked and the per km alerts get significantly out of sync with each other and start to tell me conflicting information.

In today's example, I had run 7.30km by the time the suggested workout timer ended. During that time I was correctly alerted at each full km. I was keeping an eye on my watch as the workout was about to end and the cumulative distance read 7.30km. The screen popped up the "Workout complete" message and I continued running. After that message timed out the screen reverted to the standard Total distance/Elapsed time/Pace display. It read the same cumulative total distance of 7.30km that was captured during the workout, it continued to count from there, and the elapsed time seemed correct.

However, from this point the per km alerts stopped being sent in sync with the total distance. There were no alerts when the total distance hit 8/9/10km. Instead, the per km alerts were happening mid-way through kms according to the total distance tracker. As far as I could tell, they were happening at each full km after the total distance that was recorded in the workout, so at 8.30/9.30km. This also meant that the onscreen descriptions were incorrect. I got my 9km alert when only 8.30km was recorded in the total distance. I got my 10km alert when only 9.30km was recorded, and it also told me in the same alert I'd been running for 60 mins despite the total elapsed time showing I had only been running 55 mins.

I stopped the activity at 10km according to the total distance tracker. I uploaded the activity and both Garmin and Strave agree that it was 10km. I conclude that the total distance/time tracker is correct, but the per km alerts are getting messed up when an activity contains a workout and activity that continues past the workout. I have not seen this mismatch if I log an activity that doesn't contain a workout, where the per km alerts and the total distance have always matched each other.
