1km difference between Strava on iPhone 12 to Garmin 245

Hi guys, there was a 1km difference in my 10km run today between Strava on iPhone 12 to Garmin 245 music. I started and stopped both at the same time, Strava showed 11km and my Garmin 10.06km. How can it be such a big difference?

There were no stops just one complete run

  • From what I've read positioning plays a huge role on accuracy. Something like how your phone is oriented (upside-down vs right-side up vs on its side) can affect the accuracy due to the how the antenna is positioned, thus depending on how your have the phone on you when you run can affect the results. Unless you had your phone held in front of you oriented upright the entire run, I'd be more inclined to trust the GPS watch where the antenna placement is designed to get the most optimal GPS signal as worn on your wrist while running.
