Weather Data in a Watch Face

Hello. It seems to me that in order to display weather data on your watch face , you must physically have your phone with you. Is this correct?

It does cache the weather it learned from the last time it had a phone connection, and display that on the weather page, but if you want the latest, who knows is right: it has to ask your phone.
